A community celebration-of-life gathering for Taylor Peterson will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Columbia Falls High School gymnasium.

Taylor, 17, died Monday after a lengthy battle with jaw-bone cancer. She was a senior at Columbia Falls.

“We want it to be uplifting, focusing on the positive,” said Kathy Shaffer Price, who is organizing the event with Charlene Sapa King.

A slide show is being assembled, and anyone with photos of Taylor can email them to Price at kathryn@beaconleasing.com.

Price said she and King, who were “surrogate mothers” to Taylor, are working with the Peterson family to organize the community event.

In addition to the slide show, there will be music and a potluck meal afterward in the high school cafeteria.

Today at 3 p.m., there will be a memorial service for Taylor at St. Richard’s Catholic Church in Columbia Falls.

A Facebook page, Celebration for Taylor Rae Peterson, has been set up. For more information, call Price at 253-3775 or King at 250-6652.
