A 21-year-old Hungry Horse man pleaded guilty Dec. 6 in Flathead District Court to felony assault with a weapon.

Justin Walker also was charged with felony assault on a peace officer, but that charge was dropped when he pleaded guilty to the other assault charge.

On Sept. 24, a man saw a vehicle speed down his street and tried to tell the driver to slow down, then followed the vehicle. He found Walker standing in the street and believed him to be one of the people in the speeding car.

When the man got out of his vehicle, Walker displayed a knife and slammed it down on the vehicle, at which point the man got back in his car to leave. The man reported he then saw the vehicle from before stop and pick up Walker.

The assault on a peace officer charge stemmed from an allegation that when Flathead County deputies tried to contact with Walker at his home, he exited the residence with an open knife.

Walker was on felony probation at the time of the incident and was released from custody in July. His probation was set to last until 2017.

A hearing to determine whether his probation will be revoked is scheduled for Jan. 17, 2013. A sentencing hearing for the new conviction has been scheduled for Feb. 14, 2013.
