The Smith Valley Fire Department is conducting a live burn exercise Saturday at an abandoned home west of Kalispell.

Evergreen Fire Rescue and the South Kalispell Fire Department will also be participating in the training exercise, which will begin at the Trillium Way home at 8 a.m.

The goal will be for the home to be entirely burned before dark. The fire will likely be visible from most of west Kalispell when the final ignition occurs.

Due to its use by fire apparatus, the parking lot to the Lone Pine hiking trail will not be accessible during the exercise. Traffic control will be provided, but the public is advised to avoid the small, residential area due to possible congestion.

For more information about the exercise, contact Smith Valley Fire Chief Jill Cheman or Assistant Chief Raul Brown at 752-3548.
