Swimming: Loydas, Streit, Cirincione set Glacier relay records
GREAT FALLS — Glacier swimmers Jordan Loyda, Logan Streit, Jake Cirincione and Josh Loyda won four relays and set three new school records in the process on Saturday at the Great Falls Invitational.
They broke school records in the 200 medley and 200 and 400 freestyle relays. The other relay first came in the 200 backstroke.
“I challenged them to win every one,” Flathead/Glacier swim coach Dave Lillard said.
“They had a great swim (today).”
This outing differed from others in that this was strictly relays.
“Mostly a fun meet,” Lillard said.
That did not stop several swimmers from posting season best times with their relay splits.
Flathead’s Hailie Maas had a personal best effort in the final 50 freestyle of the 200 medley relay.
Teammate Darby Mackenstadt did the same with her 100 freestyle time in the 400 freestyle relay, as did Ethan Timm in the boys version of that event.
Jaycee Rocha and Cassie Krueger both had their best 50 freestyle times in the 200 freestyle.
Glacier’s Emma Hornby had her best in 100 freestyle of 400 freestyle relay.
Teammate John Putman turned in his best 50 of 200 freestyle times in the 100 and 400 freestyle relays.
Glacier finished third in combined team scores with 149 points. Flathead, 27 points, was 12th.
This was the final meet before the holiday break for both teams. Flathead and Glacier resume action on Jan. 5 at home versus the three Missoula schools.
