Winslow leads Loggers past Troy, 51-42

TROY — Jared Winslow popped for 21 points and Barak Lapka added 12 as Libby beat Troy 51-42 in a Lincoln County boys basketball matchup Thursday evening.

Libby outscored Troy 19-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Gabe Hickman scored 16 points for Troy.

Troy overcame a slow start, down 18-4, to take a 33-32 lead after three periods.

POLSON — Polson’s 10-foot shot at the buzzer rimmed out, giving Frenchtown the Northwestern A victory.

Polson (2-2 overall, 1-0 league) was led by Cedrick Smith’s 13 points.

Riley Sampson hit 10.

Frenchtown’s John Chapman led all scorers with 21 points.

Daniel Lebsock hit 1 of 2 free throws with 7 seconds left to give the Broncs a two-point edge.

Polson was 8 of 20 free throw shooting.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Luke Kazlauskas scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the opening quarter as Columbia Falls (4-1) rolled over Eureka.

Columbia Falls led 58-19 at intermission.

Alex Presnell tallied 19 points for the Wildcats and Ty Morgan was next with 11.

Tanner Blankers led Eureka with 15.

“The kids shot the ball very well,” Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said.

“They did a good job sharing the ball. I thought we played hard throughout the game.”

Jake Van Buren scored a season high 26 points, 10 coming in the second quarter, to lead Flathead Valley Homeschool past Stillwater Christian School in Montana Christian Athletic Association Western Division action.

The Crusaders led 34-19 at intermission.

Abram French added 11 points for the Crusaders (7-1, 2-0).

Josiah Sheeran had 10 rebounds for FVHS while Josh Jarvis finished with nine rebounds, nine assists and five steals.

Stillwater (5-2, 1-1) had one player in double-figures — Josh Bray with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

“Flathead Valley Homeschool played very well,” Stillwater coach Ted Clark said.

“They have an outstanding team. They got it done tonight.”

COLUMBIA FALLS — Tori Price drained a jumper with two minutes to play to erase a 46-45 Eureka lead and Columbia Falls held the upper hand for the remainder of play to notch the nonconference victory.

Columbia Falls (4-1) was 7 of 8 free throw shooting down the stretch.

Haley Belgarde tossed in 18 points to pace Columbia Falls.

Alyssa White and Cassidy Morgan both had 12 for Eureka.

“I thought we took care of the ball better,” Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said.

“It was a step in the right direction for us for in limiting our turnovers.”

Jordan Danz scored 10 of her career-high 31 points in the second period as Stillwater Christian School rolled to a Montana Christian Athletic Association West Division victory over Flathead Valley Homeschool at West Valley School.

Stillwater (6-0, 2-0) put the game out of reach with a 28-point third quarter.

Danz also pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds and totaled eight assists.

Morgan Paolini added 15 points and 13 rebounds for Stillwater.

Hannah Seely had 10 points and Maggie Rajkowski seven for FVHS.

FRENCHTOWN — Jessica Bagnell finished with 12 points and Heidi Rausch had 10 as Polson held off a fourth-quarter charge by Frenchtown.

The Broncs outscored Polson 23-18 in the last eight minutes of play in the Northwestern A contest.

Frenchtown was led by Vanessa Stavish’s 19 points.
