West Garceau Fire

This 10-second exposure shows the red glow of the West Garceau Fire burning Aug. 14. The fire eventually covered 9.863 acres in the Irvine Flats area west of Polson. Across Montana, 2012 was the worst fire season since 1910, with more than 1.3 million acres burned and 463 homes and structures destroyed.
