During the second day of effort in capturing bighorn sheep from Wild Horse Island, only eight more sheep were flown off the island Friday, bring the total to 29.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials hope to capture a total of 50 sheep, so the helicopter netting operation will continue today, said John Fraley, the agency’s spokesman in Kalispell.

Helicopter operations continued only until 11 a.m. Friday, mainly because of logistics regarding trailers that are being used to haul the sheep to the Tendoy mountains about 40 miles south of Dillon.
