Whitefish boys top Libby in OT

WHITEFISH - Six different players scored in overtime as Whitefish emerged with a hard-fought 49-45 Northwestern A boys basketball victory over Libby on Friday night.

Whitefish had the ball with 10 seconds left in regulation play, but failed to get a shot off in time.

That sent the game to an extra sesssion.

Gage Vasquez turned in another double-double for Whitefish (8-6 overall, 4-1 league) with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

He also had six steals.

Logan Harwood came off the bench to spark Whitefish offensively with 11 points.

Whitefish, 4 of 25 shooting in the first two quarters, trailed 24-12 at intermission.

Libby (2-11, 0-5) was led offensively by Jared Winslow, who had a game-high 17 points.

Josh Foote added 11 points for the Loggers.

TROY - Fourth-ranked Bigfork bounced back from a 53-38 loss to No. 5 Class A Columbia Falls on Thursday to drop Troy for a key District 7B victory.

Bigfork (13-3, 7-0) trailed at the eight-minute mark, but led 26-23 at the half.

The Vikings outscored Troy (10-4, 5-2) 13-8 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Ian Lorang led the way for Bigfork with 20 points. Jackson Boese finished with 10.

Ryan Rayson hit 14 for Troy and Cody Orr had 10.

BOZEMAN - Flathead Valley Homeschool (11-5) bounced back from a double overtime loss to Mt. Ellis to beat Gallatin Valley Homeschool.

Jake Van Buren tallied 19 points against Mt. Ellis for FVHS, while Josiah Sheeran scored 22 in the victory.

LIBBY - Ten different players scored for Libby, led by Hailey Craig's 11 points and Hannah England's 10, as the Loggers rolled to an easy Northwestern A victory over Whitefish.

England had three treys in the contest.

Libby took charge in the second quarter, outscoring Whitefish 16-1 for a 29-12 halftime lead.

Libby (3-11. 1-4) was 16 of 31 shooting at the free throw line. Whitefish made 22 trips to the line, sinking six shots

Whitefish (1-13, 1-4) was led by Simone Craft's 11 points.

Taylor Havens finished with seven for the Bulldogs.

Bigfork (14-2, 6-1) was led by Taylor Peck's 18 points.

Troy's top scorer was Jordon Williams with 15 points.
