Surgical tech program gets merit honor
Flathead Valley Community College has received the annual Merit Award from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
The award recognized that 100 percent of the college’s graduates passed the Certified Surgical Technologist examination for 2011. Nationally, the pass rate averages 56.2 percent.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that FVCC students have achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the national certification exam. Widely recognized as the foremost credential for surgical technologists, the test is required for employment within many local, state and national health-care organizations.
Applications for admission into the spring 2013 surgical technology program at FVCC open Sept. 5. with a Nov. 30 deadline to apply for the program.
