State B-C wrestling: Eureka's hopes riding with White, Durden
BILLINGS - Friday was a long day for the Eureka wrestlers at the All Class Wrestling tournament.
Long and tough.
By days end, the Lions were down to two wrestlers.
Garrett White (105) is in the semifinals and Zach Durden is still alive in the wrestlebacks.
Forsyth is leading the Class B-C team competition with 92 points. Choteau is second with 89 points and Baker/Carter County and Colstrip are tied for third and fourth, respectively, with 56.5 points each.
Cascade/Simms rounds out the top five with 51 points.
Eureka scored 22 points the first day and is 23rd overall.
"There were a couple of bright spots, but a lot of downfalls for us," said Eureka coach Danny Lemer.
"We're pretty disappointed. But it gives us something to work for next year," he said.
"The last few (losses) ... I didn't see happening at all. I thought they were money in the bank," he said.
"Maybe we were too confident or not prepared enough," he said, shaking his head.
"But we've got one in the semis and we're pretty confident about that one. He's got a good shot at the finals.
"And we've got one in the wrestlebacks. He'll place. He's a pretty outstanding wrestler. I imagine he'll be in for third and fourth," Lemer said.
"We are young, though, a real young team. We only have one senior, so we'll be back next year," he added.
