Opal L. Maddux Swisher, 94
Opal L. Maddux Swisher, 94, passed away Feb. 10, 2012, at Whitefish Care and Rehabilitation Center in Whitefish.
Opal was born Oct. 3, 1917, to Mae and Fred Reeves in Kalispell.
She married Harry Maddux in 1933. Opal worked as a cook in a logging camp and remained a great cook for all of her life.
She and Harry raised their three children in Whitefish.
Opal enjoyed attending her pinochle and sewing clubs. She also loved music and dancing.
Following Harry's death in 1958, Opal worked at the Downtowner Motel, J.C. Penney and Tyke Town clothing store, all in Whitefish.
In 1960, Opal married Don Swisher. She was a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harry Maddux and Don Swisher; and granddaughter, Tracy Maddux.
Opal is survived by her son, Harry Maddux, and wife, Janet; daughter Carole Harwood, and husband, Rollin; daughter, Barbara Willard, and husband, Bob; eight grandchildren, Terri (Maddux) Benedict, Shelly (Maddux) Snipes, Craig, Bryan, Mark and Michael Harwood, and Scott Willard and Taunya (Willard) Rivera; 17 great-grandchildren, Tanner Benedict, Cory, Tyler and Joel Snipes, Christopher, Paige, Emma and Bryan Harwood, Logan and Brady Harwood, Kayla Harwood, Alex and Cole Harwood, Tina and Faith Willard and Joshua and Rylan Rivera.
