Marlene Ann Jacobsen, 79

| February 14, 2012 5:06 PM

Marlene Ann Jacobsen, 79, died Feb. 9, 2012, in Whitefish, with her husband by her side.

She was born March 12, 1932, to Tom and Thelma Carrig in Butte. Her father worked in the Butte mines for his entire career and her mother worked in the first electric bakery in Montana.

Activities with her children and family were her greatest joy. She was adored by her husband and profoundly loved by her entire family, including 15 grandchildren.

Upon graduating from the University of Montana in 1944 with a degree in home economics, she embarked on a 27-year career as a home economics teacher, primarily at West Junior High school in Great Falls. She loved her students.

Her family, career, and devout Catholic faith gave her purpose, strength and peace throughout her life. She was never without a project to do, a fun event to experience, or someone to help out.

She was married to her husband, Arne Jacobsen, for 55 years. She is survived by her husband and four children, Heidi Jacobsen-Schley of Woodside, Calif., Christina Jacobsen-Feeny of Woodside, Arne Jacobsen of Highland, Utah, and Eric Jacobsen of Park City, Utah.

A celebration of her life will be shared by family members in Whitefish in the future. If you are a former student or acquaintance and interested in sending a personal note to be read at the family celebration, please send your email to marlenecelebration@gmail.com .
