FHS graduate named doctor of the year

Martin de Kort, a 1994 Flathead High School graduate, recently was honored as Physician of the Year by Yavapai Regional Medical Center in the Prescott area of Arizona.

Director of the emergency department, de Kort joined the hospital in 2006 after completing an emergency medicine residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix.

According to a Prescott Valley Tribune article, the award is based on excellent patient care, positive staff and volunteer relationships, respect for all, sensitivity to patient needs and pride in the hospital.

He attended Loyola Marymount University in California and Georgetown Medical School in Washington, D.C.

His parents are Frank and Linda de Kort of Kalispell.
