Florence Hein Norby, 93
Florence Hein Norby, 93, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Heritage Place in Kalispell.
She was born to Conrad and Katie Hein in Ritzville, Wash., on Jan. 2, 1919. She graduated from high school in Ritzville, as well.
In 1945, she married Sherman "Red" Norby in Washington. They moved to Kalispell in 1946. They had two sons, Ray and Rand. They divorced in 1960.
She was a tailor her entire life and enjoyed it immensely. She worked for Torgerson's and Taylor, Roe & Jean Factory, as well as various other businesses in the Kalispell area that employed tailors. She eventually worked out of her own home, and did so until she was in her late 80s.
She loved to golf and walked every day until she was 85, as well as helping take care of great-grandchildren. She made it to every sporting event and dance recital her grandkids participated in.
She was very involved in the Lutheran Church, was a den mother for the Scouts for both of her sons, involved in the PTA, and in Church Women United.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, and her brother Virgil.
She is survived by her sisters, Fran Manke and Virginia, of Washington; son, Ray Norby, and wife, Lynn, of Kalispell; son, Rand Norby, of Kalispell; grandson, Jerry Norby, and wife, Karyn Thornton Norby, of Rollins; granddaughter, Denise Belt, and husband, Ben, of Kalispell; granddaughter, Serina Nelson, and husband, Jayson, of Kalispell; grandson, Shawn Norby, and Kendra Heath, of Kalispell; great-granddaughter, Alexxandra "Xxy" Belt, of Kalispell; great-grandson, Ayden Nelson, of Kalispell; great-granddaughter, Jordyn “Jojo” Nelson, of Kalispell; great-granddaughter, Kaylie Norby, of Kalispell; great-grandson, Zarek Belt, of Kalispell; great-granddaughter, Morgan Norby, of Rollins; and many nieces, nephew, great-nieces, and great- nephews.
There will be a private family burial. Celebration of Florence's life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Evergreen, with Pastor Kirk Rau officiating. There will be a reception following at the church.
