High school students are invited to apply for music scholarships from Glacier Symphony and Chorale.

Every year, the symphony awards scholarships to students in grades nine through 12, including graduating seniors.

The program is intended to encourage student participation in the symphony and chorale and to help young musicians pursue a career or avocation in music.

Scholarships are based on musical ability and potential.

Students who have played with the Glacier Symphony for at least three concerts during a regular season, who are on the permanent orchestra substitution list or who have sung in the Glacier Chorale are eligible to apply.

In addition to these scholarships, when funds are available, “at-large” scholarships may be provided to outstanding music students who show exceptional ability but have not yet had the opportunity to perform with the symphony or sing with the chorale.

These scholarships must be used for students to further their musical careers through camps, private lessons or college tuition.

Applications must be postmarked by March 23. Mail them to:

GSC Attn: Scholarship Committee

P.O. Box 2491

Kalispell, MT 59903

Students also may drop off their applications at the Glacier Symphony and Chorale office, 720 Main St., Kalispell.

The recipients will be announced at the symphony’s April 28 and 29 concerts, and the graduating senior awards will be presented at the students’ spring awards assembly.
