Ruth Kathryn Corbett, 91

Ruth Kathryn Corbett passed away in her sleep on Feb. 21, 2012.

She was born the ninth of 15 children on March 11, 1920, to Stanislaw and Katherine Kantorowicz in Chester.

On Sept. 22, 1920, Ruth was adopted by Clarence and Myrtle Biggs. The family moved several times throughout the years; however, the majority of Ruth's earlier life was spent in the Spokane area.

She worked as an elevator operator for 10 years. While working there she became reunited with her biological family through one of her sisters.

She later met and married her husband George “Joe” Edward Corbett. After they were married, they lived in Libby, Helena, and later retired in Polson.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, George Corbett; and 12 of her 14 siblings.

She is survived by her siblings, Alfred Biggs of Tonasket, Wash., and Bernice McCabe of Muskogee, Okla.; children, Susan Peters of Helena, and Dean and wife Susan Corbett of Kalispell; grandchildren, Deena Holland, Aaron Peters, Ryan Corbett and Janae Corbett; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ruth had a strong faith in God with an intense love to pray for family and friends. She gave her life in many ways in service to the Lord, and greatly desired to share the Good News of the Gospel to those she met.

Ruth enjoyed gardening, photography, sewing and utilizing her artistic abilities. She was also very involved politically with Eagle Forum and kept up on current political events.

She will be missed and remembered by the many lives that she touched and influenced throughout the years.

A viewing and funeral will be held at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home at 3750 N. Montana Ave., in Helena. Those wishing to pay respects at the viewing are welcome to attend from 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 2. The funeral proceedings will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, followed by a reception. The burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 5 at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson, for immediate family. Family and friends are welcome to attend the viewing and funeral.
