Another wolf? Nope, just a canny canine

A Kalispell woman cried wolf Tuesday morning, leading to a response by the Kalispell Police Department until the animal was determined to be a large dog.

Since a real wolf was spotted in Kalispell just last weekend, the woman wasn’t taking any chances and reported seeing a wolf southbound on Eighth Avenue West at 9:13. While an animal control officer searched the area, School Resource Officer Tim Falkner and another officer contacted Flathead High School, Elrod Elementary School and Peterson Elementary School to notify them of the possibility that a wolf might be in the area.

Within about a half hour, however, the animal was found to have been a husky on the loose.

A former employee of a business on West Idaho Street came into the store, threw a milkshake at an employee and left without paying for the milkshake.

Several concerned people reported a pair of teenage girls sitting on the corner of Fourth Avenue East North and East Idaho Street holding a sign that said “homeless.”

A resident of Second Street West reported that his ex-wife was allowing her 15-year-old daughter to live with a 20-year-old man.

A woman reported that her husband was assaulted by his girlfriend at their home. Yep, that’s the way it was reported to the police. We are staying out of it.

Boys were throwing rocks at a car on Wolfpack Way.

A chainsaw was stolen from a front porch on Ninth Avenue West by a young man in a silver compact car.

An employee of an Evergreen business on Montclair Drive was unimpressed when a “kid in a mask” tried to rob her with a pellet gun, she told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect, who was wearing a red bandana over his face, said “money” as he pointed the gun at her, but “kind of in a funny voice.” The woman first thought it was a joke; then the boy shot at her with a pellet gun before leaving empty-handed.

A resident of Spring Creek Drive in Evergreen complained about her neighbor’s peacocks, which had been scratching her vehicle while allowed to roam free.

An man in his mid-20s went through the drive-through of a restaurant on U.S. 93 North in Kalispell while smoking marijuana. He was apparently not worried. No word on whether that was a result of the drug, or just his natural condition.

A strange man with a bunch of bags was reported shadowboxing before hiding in bushes and changing his clothes on Terry Road in Evergreen.

A Kalispell woman who reported last year that someone stole her birth certificate and her son’s birth certificate from a storage unit now reported that when she did her taxes, she was told someone was using her 4-year-old son’s Social Security number.

Someone damaged the storm door of a home on Montana 209 in Bigfork while attempting to get inside the house.

An Anderson Lane resident in Kalispell heard seven or eight shots fired on the east side of the river.

A summer tire and rim valued at $600 were stolen from a home on Antelope Trail in Whitefish.

Jewelry was stolen from a Lakeside home on Bierney Creek Road.

A vehicle was broken into on Saint Andrews Drive in Columbia Falls.

A coffee can full of change was stolen on Olney Loop in Olney.

A Walmart gift card was stolen on Kienas Road in Kalispell.

Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested a person for criminal contempt on Division Street in Polson.

Suspicious activity was reported on Montana 212.

Officers with the Whitefish Police Department responded to a report of indecent exposure on Copperwood Court.

A vicious animal was reported on East Second Street.

The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of tires slashed on Second Avenue West.
