LAST YEAR: Glacier broke through with a 37-27 victory at Glacier High School on Jan. 6. Flathead was ranked No. 2 and Glacier No. 3.
TEAM RANKINGS: Glacier is ranked No. 3 in the AA Coaches Poll. Flathead is not ranked.
INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS: Both schools have a wrestler in the No. 1 slot in the Coaches Poll. Glacier's Cooper Sipe is the top-ranked AA wrestler at 145 pounds, while Flathead's Larry Francis is rated first at 171. Also ranked are: Glacier's Kaleb Mitchell at 130 (fourth); Zach Barber at 135 (third); Shane St. Onge at 160 (second); Lane Armstrong at 189 (second); and Mack Sutherland at heavyweight (second); and Flathead's Suny Cheff at 145 (fourth) and Jacob Egley at 152 (fourth).
TO DATE: This marks just the third dual of the season for both schools. Glacier opened the season pinning Butte 45-29 and followed six days later with a 73-6 triumph over Missoula Big Sky. Flathead, on the other hand, held off Butte 42-35 and lost to Missoula Sentinel 41-39. The rest of the time has been spent at weekend tournaments. Glacier defeated Great Falls High 42-37 in the championship match at the Mining City Duals in Butte back on Dec. 10. In the Wolfpack's last outing on Dec. 16-17, it finished third at the CMR Holiday Classic. Flathead went 3-2 at the Mining City Duals and placed 31st at the Tri-State tournament in Coeur d'Alene on Dec. 16-17. Glacier also won the Polson Invitational on Dec. 3 with Flathead finishing in fouth place.
UP NEXT: Both schools resume tournament action Friday and Saturday at the Pacific Northwest event in Spokane.
