School pair revive fallen student
School staffers revived a Columbia Falls High School student who had collapsed during gym class Wednesday morning.
Health and physical education teacher Troy Bowman and school nurse Cathy Dragonfly began cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and used an automated external defibrillator to bring back the heartbeat of the 16-year-old student.
According to emergency radio traffic, the youth may have run into someone else, fallen and hit his head on the floor.
School Superintendent Michael Nicosia said it is unclear what initiated the incident.
Three Rivers Ambulance was dispatched to the high school at 8:30 a.m. and by the time the ambulance arrived, the student had a pulse and was breathing on his own.
The boy was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
