Bigfork sweeps Troy cagers
BIGFORK - Bigfork jumped on Troy earlier, leading 15-4 after eight minutes of play and rolled from there to a 51-19 District 7B girls basketball victory Friday night.
Bigfork (7-1 overall, 3-0 league) led 29-11 at the half.
Taylor Peck scored 16 points while Melissa VanDerveer turned in a double-double with 10 points to go with 10 rebounds.
Tessa Robertson also had 10 points for the Valkyries.
Jordan Williams led Troy with eight points.
Mckinze Shults topped Bigfork in assists, seven, and Taylor Peck had a team-best six steals.
It was Bigfork's third game in four nights.
Bigfork's next outing is Friday at Thompson Falls.

WHITEFISH - Whitefish held Libby scoreless in the opening quarter and went on to claim its first victory of the season in the Northwestern A contest.
Whitefish (1-6, 1-0) trailed 7-6 at the half, but used a 10-point third quarter to get the upper hand.
Ashley O'Dell tallied eight points to lead Whitefish.
Jenny Johnson and Kim Tangen had four each for Libby.
Libby hosts Thompson Falls on Thursday, while Whitefish entertains Plains.

POLSON - Riley Kenney scored 20 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to help Polson (4-1) drop Class B Missoula Loyola in a nonconference contest.
Loyola led 9-7 after the first period, but Polson roared back to go on top 26-17 at intermission.
Mariah Hamel added 10 points for Polson.
Polson returns to Northwestern A action today, 5:30 p.m., at Columbia Falls.

BIGFORK - Ian Lorang scored 16 points and Austin Jordt 15 as Bigfork bounced back from a nonconference loss to Columbia Falls with a District 7B victory over Troy.
Bigfork (6-2, 3-0) led 28-22 at the half, but used a big third quarter to get a better advantage.
The Vikings outscored the Trojans in that period 17-5.
Troy's Cory Orr led all scorers with 19 points. Cody Orr added 13.
Bigfork was 10-of-15 shooting from the free throw line.
Bigfork resumes 7B play on Friday versus Thompson Falls at home.

Vasquez, 18 points, and Cooper Olson, 12, to a
easy Northwestern A victory over Libby.
Whitefish (5-3, 1-0) led 27-19 at the half and outscored Libby 33-14 in the final half.
Libby (0-5, 0-1) was led by Jared Winslow's 15 points. Elias Lapka was next with eight.
Libby hosts Frenchtown in a league contest today at 4 p.m.
Whitefish takes on District 7B foe Plains on Thursday in Plains.
