Weather change brings the usual traffic woes
Law enforcement agencies throughout the Flathead Valley were kept busy during the afternoon as a snow squall conditions led to many accidents, from basic fender benders to vehicles unable to make it up hills.
The Kalispell Police Department received a report from residents of Third Avenue East who said they caught a man and two women driving around in a vehicle and trying to steal items from their carport. When confronted, the man had a gas can in his hand and said "I was just trying to have a little fun." The women covered their faces so they could not be seen.
A resident of Meadow Vista Loop reported his or her 12-year-old daughter was assaulted on the bus by a boy and that the bus driver has the incident on tape. The girl had bruises on her face, but refused medical treatment.
Officers arrested a man who was apprehended while attempting to shoplift from a store on Hutton Ranch Road.
A resident of Second Avenue East North reported there was a stray dog on her porch that she had just watched kill her neighbor's chickens.
An inebriated woman was apprehended while apparently attempting to steal necklaces and a ring from a store on North Main Street.
A resident of First Avenue East reported her daughter left her computer at her boyfriend's house and that it was stolen and pawned.
A resident of Third Avenue East requested help from the fire department in getting his cat out of a tree.
A man reported his vehicle was keyed while it was parked near Hutton Ranch Road.
An assault was reported on Sunny View Lane.
The Flathead County Sheriff's Office received a report from a resident of Sager Lane in Evergreen that a 40-year-old man had been continually trying to add his 13-year-old daughter as a friend on Facebook, also trying to get her to meet with him for lunch.
A clerk from a gas station and convenience store on U.S. 2 East in Hungry Horse reported minors had stolen alcohol from the business on two occasions and that they had security camera footage of the thefts.
A 9mm Springfield handgun, a laptop and an iPod were reported stolen from a camper on Parliament Drive in Evergreen while the owner was in jail. The owner said his neighbors told him they saw people jumping the fence at the property.
A 12-gauge pump-action Winchester shotgun with pistol grip was reported stolen from a home on East Evergreen Drive in Evergreen.
A resident of Lakeside Boulevard in Lakeside reported that three mailboxes on the road were smashed.
The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of two suspicious men in trees on 12th Avenue West. Officers were unable to locate the men but found evidence that someone may have checked the back door at the residence where they were seen.
