MISSOULA - The Wolfpack wrestlers defeated host Missoula Hellgate 79-0 on Thursday in a warmup dual for today's Rocky Mountain Classic.

Getting pins for the Wolfpack were Cody Decker (105), Christian Knopp (119), Alek Mitchell (125), Kaleb Mitchell (130), Cooper Sipe (145), Grant Tafoya (152), Shane St. Onge (160), Riley Pisk (171), Lane Armstrong (189) and Jake Tudahl.

"We had some really good performances," said Glacier coach Mark Fischer.

The Wolfpack's Quin Barber, at 98 pounds, avenged a major decision earlier in the season at the CMR Holiday Classic.

He defeated Demitri Kares by six points on Thursday.

"Completely turned it around," Fischer said.

"He defended the cradle. (Kares) has a tremendous cradle. (Barber) got hand control on the bottom and made sure that didn't happen," he said.

Fischer also complimented the efforts of heavyweight Mack Sutherland, who claimed a major decision over Jacob Moderie.

According to Fischer, Moderie weighed in at 283.

"Mack was outweighed by about 50 pounds. Just went after the kid. Looked pretty good," he said.

The Wolfpack is excited for today's Rocky Mountain Classic.

"That's always the tournament the kids look forward to the most. It's prestigious. It's one they want to go after," he said.

Columbia Falls 42, Polson 36

POLSON - One match difference.

The Columbia Falls MatCats picked up a 42-36 Northwestern A dual victory over the Polson Pirates on Thursday night.

"We got pinned at a couple weights where we should have been in the hunt," said Polson coach Bob Owen.

MatCat Marcus Ross caught and threw Marlin Burke at 189 pounds and Travis Province also caught Jared Young at 145.

"It was a good competitive meet. They just won more match," Owen said.

These two teams battled to a draw at last weekend's Western Montana Duals. Columbia Falls won that one on criteria.

Both teams are at the Rocky Mountain Classic today and Saturday.

"We've got quite a few guys who should compete pretty well and it's good for the younger kids to see that kind of competition," Owen said.

FRENCHTOWN - A pair of big decisions at 140 and 152 pounds lifted the Libby Greenchain to a 46-33 Northwestern A wrestling victory over host Frenchtown on Thursday.

Garrett Chape won a 9-4 decision at 140 and Josh Bowers was a 5-1 winner at 152.

"Frenchtown is a deep team with some good talent. I feel fortunate to come out of there with a win," said Libby coach Kelly Morford.

"Those were good wins by those guys. That was big for those guys to step up and get those wins for us," he said.

He also complimented the effort of Mitch Haugen at 130. He claimed a 12-4 major decision over Cody Lemon.

Haugen has been ill this past week.

"We were wondering about his endurance, since he's been sick. I was proud of the way he came out and wrestled. He gritted his teeth and wrestled well," the coach said.

The Greenchain will be at the Rocky Mountain Classic today and Saturday.

"They're excited. They want to do well as a team," Morford said.
