Glacier sweeps Columbia Falls
Glacier withstood a furious second-half rally by Columbia Falls to post a 60-46 nonconference boys basketball victory on Friday at Glacier High School.
Columbia Falls battled back from a 16-point deficit in the third period to eventually get within one, but Glacier pulled away from that point on.
"It was a great game," Glacier coach Mark Harkins said.
"Defensively, the kids played very, very well. We challenged shots.
"They made a huge run, but the kids regained their composure, stopped it and made some plays down the stretch to get the victory."
Glacier (5-2) was led by Ryan Edwards, 24 points and 11 rebounds. Colton Harkins had seven points to go with 10 rebounds.
Logan Iverson, Kyle Griffith and Evan Epperly all scored eight points each for Glacier.
Austin Barth had 18 points and 15 rebounds for Columbia Falls.
Anthony Correa chipped in 13 points for the Wildcats (5-3).

POLSON - A rough shooting night doomed Polson as the Pirates (4-3) came up 17 points short in the nonconference contest.
Polson shot 26 percent from the field, was 3-of-24 from 3-point range and 8-of-18 from the line.
"That's the scary part," Polson coach Brad Pluff said. "They shot 52 percent. They were just better tonight."
Colby Henderson hit six treys en route to a game-high 20 points for Corvallis.
Riley Bradshaw, who came in averaging 26.7 points per game, was held to 10. Polson's Vince DiGiallonardo clamped down on Bradshaw defensively.
Tyler Krell paced Polson with 14 points.

EUREKA - Cory Orr scored 24 points, including five 3-pointers, as Troy downed Eureka in a District 7B contest.
Tanner Blankers led Eureka (3-6, 2-2) with 19 points, followed by Tanner Peterson with 16 and Ryan Holder with 12.
Troy got off to a great start, leading 17-6 after the first quarter. Eureka battled back in the next three quarters, but could never make up that initial difference.
Orr "had a hot shooting night. And we missed shots that we should have made," said Eureka coach Chad Dunn.
"That was basically the difference. They made shots and we didn't."

Josh Topp scored 15 points and Trevor Holladay added 12 as the Stillwater Christian Cougars cruised to a victory over visiting Clark Fork, Idaho.
Stillwater (9-2) led 43-6 at half and 58-14 after three quarters.
Topp added eight rebounds and six assists for the Cougars. Cole Moore had seven rebounds and three steals and Noah Hashley contributed six rebounds and five assists.
"It was very exciting to see the guys bounce back after the setback to Glacier JV (Thursday). Excellent effort with everyone getting into the scoring column," said Stillwater coach Ted Clark.

Nicole Heavirland scored 20 points and Cassidy Hashley had 11 points and seven rebounds as Glacier posted a victory over Columbia Falls.
Glacier jumped in front 15-8 and led the nonconference home contest 24-11 at the half.
The Wolfpack (4-3) had nine different players score and enjoyed another solid night at the free throw line, hitting 11-of-17 attempts.
Haley Belgarde led Columbia Falls (1-7) scoring with six points.
"Columbia Falls ... they're getting better," Glacier coach Kris Salonen said.
"Very disciplined ... play, very hard. We ended up coming away with a good win, but it wasn't easy."

THOMPSON FALLS - Thompson Falls survived a tight battle with Bigfork in District 7B play.
Logan Beckman led Thompson Falls, and all scorers, with 16 points. Allison Vaught was next with 13.
Mckinze Shults tallied 12 points for Bigfork (7-2, 3-1).
Bigfork held a slim 18-17 advantage at the half in the back-and-fourth contest.

TROY - Alyssa White had a monster all-around game with 11 points, six steals, six assists and seven rebounds to guide Eureka to a lopsided District 7B win over Troy.
Teammate Cassidy Morgan led all scorers with 22 points.
Morgan also had seven rebounds.
Eureka (4-5, 3-1) scored 12 points in three of the four quarters.
The Lions recorded 26 steals in the game.
"Our 1-3-1 worked pretty well for us," Eureka coach R.J. McDole said.

Jordan Danz and Morgan Paolini scored 16 points each as Stillwater Christian School (10-1) pushed its win streak to nine games with a 10-point nonconference victory over Clark Fork, Idaho, at SCS.
Paolini had 14 rebounds for her second straight double-double.
Danz totaled eight rebounds and four assists.
Teammate Samantha Red Elk collected a team-high five steals to go with five rebounds, and Mckenzie Hemp finished with three assists.
"We have a very unselfish team," SCS coach Denise Topp said.
"They see each other well and make good things happen on the court."
