Lucile Langdoc Bucek, 94

| January 16, 2012 8:00 PM

Lucile Langdoc Bucek passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, in Kalispell.

Lucile was born on July 17, 1917, to Samuel and Winifred Langdoc in Chicago. Within a few months the family returned to Montana where her father worked for Kalispell Lumber Company. Her mother, an accounting clerk, "worked all but one day of the Depression Era."

An only child, Lucile enjoyed time spent with family, fondly recalling their long walks after church on Sunday to collect buttercups or pussy willows. Lucile attended schools in both the Kalispell and the Chicago area. Science and math classes were her favorites, and she also played the violin for a small orchestra associated with Parker Senior High School.

On June 7, 1942, she married Russell Bucek. Russell was employed by Gustav-Hirsch Corporation as a supervisor for telephone installations. Lucile traveled with her husband to Bangkok, Thailand, where they lived for a year, after which they settled in Columbus, Ohio. Lucile went on to travel throughout Europe and across the United States before moving back to Kalispell.

Lucile was an avid volunteer through the RSVP program where she enjoyed working with the Hockaday Museum and the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce. Her volunteer efforts also included the Century Club, Agency on Aging and Eagle Transit.

Playing bridge, reading and listening to classical music were her favorite hobbies. She loved to watch Ohio State football and she loved every cat and dog she ever met.

Lucile moved to the Immanuel Lutheran Home in July of 2004, and during her residence there became a beloved member of the ILH family. She will be missed.

A "Share and Care" gathering in remembrance of Lucile will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, in the family room at Immanuel Lutheran Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Flathead County Animal Shelter, Eagle Transit or Immanuel Lutheran Home-Courtyard Flowers are suggested.
