Vasquez, Olson guide Whitefish past Polson, 61-46

WHITEFISH - Gage Vasquez turned in a double-double with 10 rebounds and 13 points and Cooper Olson tossed in a team-best 16 points as Whitefish beat Polson 61-46 in Northwestern A boys basketball action on Saturday.

Logan Harwood had six assists and Christopher Forrest five for the Bulldogs (6-5 overall, 2-1 league).

Polson (5-5, 2-2) held an early 13-9 lead, but trailed 26-19 at the half.

Tyler Krell tallied 17 points for Polson.

EUREKA - Eureka dominated play on the glass and used a balanced offensive effort to drop Ronan in a nonconference tilt.

Eureka (4-8) had 33 rebounds, 24 on the defensive end.

Tanner Peterson pulled down a team-best eight rebounds to go with 17 points. Tanner Blankers hit a team-high 25 points and Ryan Holder added 16.

Eureka shot 52 percent from 2-point range and 55 percent behind the arc. The Lions were 16-of-26 at the charity stripe.

"We had a great night shooting," Eureka coach Chad Dunn said.

BIGFORK - Fifth-ranked Bigfork stayed perfect in District 7B play with an 11-point victory over Plains.

Bigfork (10-2, 6-0) took a 28-11 lead into the locker room at the half.

Chris Landon paced the Vikings offense with 20 points.

Brandon Smith led Plains with 14.

GREAT FALLS - Josiah Sheeran scored 13 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to help Flathead Valley Homeschool down Foothills Christian School in MCAA play.

The Crusaders (8-3) trailed at the half, 26-24, but turned it around in the second half, outscoring FCS 34-18.

Josh Jarvis scored 12 points for FVHS.

WHITEFISH - Polson used a 24-point second quarter to pull away from Whitefish for the Northwestern A victory.

Polson (8-2, 3-1) had three players in double-figure scoring: Riley Kenney, 19; Mackenzie Banner, 12; and Anna DiGiallonardo, 10. Kenney was 7-of-8 at the free throw line.

Whitefish (1-10, 1-2) was led by Talor Havens. She did all of her scoring a the free throw line, hitting 5-of-7.

EUREKA - Alex Holland tallied 16 points and Alyssa White had a solid all-around game with four points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as Eureka derailed Ronan in a nonconference contest.

Holland did all of her scoring in the second half.

Eureka (6-6) held Ronan to single-digit scoring in the first, second and third periods for a 41-24 lead heading into the final eight minutes of play.

PLAINS - Bigfork picked up its second District 7B victory in three days with a 10-point win over Plains.

Bigfork (10-2, 5-1) was led by Melissa VanDerveer, 14 points, and Taylor Peck, 10.

The eighth-ranked Valkyries led 23-16 at the half.
