Deputies asked to rule on 'warning shot'

An upset Bigfork man contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office for help with a legal question. The Echo Retreat Drive resident wanted to know if he could discharge a 12-gauge shotgun in his neighborhood to scare away the children he thought were “casing” his home for a possible burglary or other crime.

On a rooftop from which several burglaries had been initiated at a building on Montana 35 in Bigfork, a person found beer cans and urine.

An unknown suspect apparently didn’t find anything they wanted during a burglary at a storage unit complex on Ash Road in Evergreen. At least four units were found to have had their locks cut off, but nothing was reported missing.

An unknown mischief maker tore up the fence at a property on Hodgson Road in Columbia Falls and buried the homeowner’s tools in the snow.

A cocky burglar reportedly broke into a storage unit on Eckelberry Drive in Columbia Falls and replaced the lock.

A resident of Klondyke Loop in Somers reported a man kicked in her door then left. The man was found to have a history including accessory to murder, resisting arrest, assaut with a deadly weapon and possession, manufacturing and sale of drugs.

A man reported he was assaulted by his girlfriend on Roberts Road in Columbia Falls.

A man was arrested after beating up his girlfriend on Solberg Drive in Evergreen.

A boy was released to his father after being caught shoplifting at a business on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.

Several items, including two bags of clothes, were reported stolen from a vehicle on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.

A theft was reported at a construction business on Grand Drive in Bigfork.

A theft from a vehicle was reported on Margrethe Road in Evergreen.

An officer with the Kalispell Police Department arrested a woman who should have gone to greater lengths to avoid attracting attention. The officer arrested the woman during a traffic stop on 11th Street West after he found she had an active warrant for theft out of the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

Someone put graffiti on the street-facing side of several mailboxes along Northridge Drive.

The Whitefish Police Department received a report of criminal mischief on U.S. 93 South.

A pair of thefts were reported on U.S. 93 South.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of assault at a grocery store.

A theft from a vehicle was reported on Quicken Lane.

A trooper with the Montana Highway Patrol arrested a person for driving under the influence on U.S. 93 after they refused alcohol testing.

The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of assault on Scenic Drive.
