Lewis William Hills Jr., 84, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.
Lewis was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Whitefish, the son of Lewis Sr., and Iva Hills.
Lewis was always a hard-working man. In his younger years, he worked with his father and brother in a sawmill. Following that, he was a sheriff’s deputy in Flathead County for several years. He also spent time working for the County Road Department. He spent several years seeing the country while trucking.
In his retirement he traveled from Montana to Arizona and back.
Lewis is survived by his siblings, Nina Jones, Harold Hills and Gary Hills; children, Doug and Sue Henry, Katie Johns, Kellie and Terry Smith, and Mike Hills; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Lonepine Community Hall in Lonepine. Visitation will start at 9 a.m. The service will commence at 11 a.m.
