Glacier, Flathead lose to Helena High, Helena Capital

HELENA - Helena High held Glacier scoreless in the third quarter en route to a 50-42 Western AA boys basketball victory Saturday afternoon.

Glacier (8-3, 2-2) held a 28-23 lead at the half.

Helena didn't exactly light up the scoreboard either in the third period, scoring just six points. But the Bengals (5-7, 3-1) tallied 21 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Dylan Simac sank two free throws to give Helena the lead for good at 38-36.

Helena's Zach Hulse led all scorers with 19 points, eight coming in the fourth quarter.

Evan Epperly topped Glacier in scoring with 12 points. He also had a team best three assists.

Helena enjoyed a big edge at the charity stripe, going 18 for 29. Glacier made just nine trips to the line and made five shots.

Glacier was whistled for 29 fouls to 11 for Helena.

Glacier knocked off No. 4 Helena Capital on Friday, 55-44, while Helena slipped by No. 5 Flathead 54-52.

HELENA - For the second-straight night, Flathead fell two-points short.

Fourth-ranked Capital outscored No. 5 Flathead 15-6 in the final eight minutes to pull out the Western AA victory.

Flathead (6-6, 2-3) took a 40-33 lead into the fourth period.

Matt McLean and George Sherwood led FHS offensively with 18 and 13 points, respectively.

Bryson Smith had 20 points for Capital (8-4, 4-1).

Flathead lost to Helena High on Friday, 54-52.
