Kalispell man denies 4th DUI

A 34-year-old Kalispell man pleaded not guilty Thursday in Flathead District Court to what would be his fourth offense of driving under the influence.

According to a court document, Nathaniel Wendt was stopped on June 17, 2012, by a deputy with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after being seen driving over a pedestrian walkway, a sidewalk and the curb of a sidewalk on Second Street East in Whitefish.

Wendt then allegedly failed a field sobriety test and refused a breath alcohol test.

His prior convictions for driving under the influence came in March 1997, February 2010 and April 2012.

If convicted, Wendt faces between 13 months and five years in jail and up to five years of probation as well as a fine of between $1,000 and $10,000.

His next hearing is scheduled for July 18.
