A 48-year-old Las Vegas woman is getting one more chance after she and one of her attorneys did not appear at a June 28 arraignment hearing in Flathead District Court.

Neither Donna Lee Ramey nor Brent Getty appeared at the hearing, although another attorney appeared on behalf of Getty and Ramey’s other attorney, Courtney Nolan, were present. Nolan told Flathead District Judge Katherine Curtis that Ramey is hospitalized in Las Vegas.

Curtis declined to issue a bench warrant for Ramey, continuing the hearing to July 12. She said if Getty plans any more continuances he must appear in court and be prepared to provide additional information concerning Ramey.

Ramey is facing a felony charge of issuing a bad check in a 2009 case, a felony charge for her alleged fourth offense of driving under the influence in another 2009 case and felony charges of elder abuse and forgery in a 2012 case.

She is alleged to have issued more than $800 in bad checks and redirected her mother’s pension checks totaling more than $3,700 to herself. Her prior drunk-driving convictions came in October 1999, February 2008 and August 2008.

If convicted on all charges, Ramey faces up to 41 years and one month in jail, up to five additional years of probation and a fine of between $1,000 and $160,000.

Her next hearing in the bad checks case is scheduled for July 18, with her next hearing in the drunk-driving case scheduled for Sept. 19 and her next hearing in the elder-abuse case slated for Aug. 29.
