Kalispell City Council members will meet Tuesday with Alec Hansen of the Montana League of Cities and Towns for an update on the upcoming session of the state Legislature.

Hansen is executive director of the nonprofit, nonpartisan group, which represents 129 municipalities around Montana.

According to the Montana League of Cities and Towns website, the league aims to give member cities a research program and legislative voice which would be impossible for any of them individually.

“He does this before the [legislative] session, midsession and after the session,” said Kalispell City Clerk Theresa White.

The meeting starts at 1:30 p.m. in Kalispell City Hall, 201 First Ave. E. It is open to the public.

Later this year, Montana League of Cities and Towns will hold its 81st annual conference in Kalispell on Oct. 3, 4 and 5.

The city last hosted the annual conference in 2004. It’s expected to bring 300 to 350 people to town.
