Troy contractor pleads guilty in workers' comp case
A Troy man has pleaded guilty to felony theft after illegally collecting workers’ compensation benefits.
According to a release from the Montana State Fund, the fund’s special investigations unit discovered that Jacobi Curtis was working as an independent contractor while receiving benefits. The benefits stemmed from a work-related injury at his prior job.
The Montana Attorney General’s Office filed felony charges against Curtis, who later was ordered in court to pay $2,109 in restitution.
Since the Montana State Fund’s inception in 1993, more than $54 million has been recovered from fraudulent claims.
