Kalispell tops Kootenai Valley, Havre in State Babe Ruth play

The Kalispell Lakers defeated the Kootenai Valley All-Stars 14-1 in a game called after five innings by the 10-run rule on Thursday in Montana State 15/13U Babe Ruth baseball championships at Kidsports Complex.

Kalispell’s Walker Malmin pitched the first three innings, holding Kootenai Valley to one hit while fanning five. Sam McCamley went the final two. He struck out two and allowed no runs.

Justin Rich and Kyler Harkins led the Lakers offense, going 2 for 2 and 2 for 3, respectively.

Harkins doubled in two runs in third inning and Geoff Bengston doubled in the first inning.

Rich shared the RBIs lead with Harkins, both with two.

The Lakers opened the day with a 10-0 victory over Havre, that was also called after five innings.

Chasen Eaves threw four innings and Zach Sands went the final one.

Bengston doubled, Rich drove in a run while Brett Thomas doubled and tripled and totaled three RBIs.

Malim had a perfect day at the plate in three appearances as did Eaves in two trips. Sands was 2 for 3.
