On the lookout for a bank robber
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, as well as other law enforcement agencies, was asked to be on the lookout for a man in his 50s or 60s who robbed Gate City Bank in Williston, N.D., at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The man, who was described by the Williston Police Department as white with a slim to medium build, square glasses and scruffy facial hair, escaped the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.
A man was reported sitting in his boat talking to children and watching them constantly, creeping people out. The man was found to have a caution for violent tendencies and non-extraditable warrants out of Idaho, but no criminal history was discovered. Potential boating violations were passed along to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
A 2-year-old boy wearing just a diaper and an infant bodysuit was found wandering down Middle Road in Columbia Falls. The child, who didn’t know where he lived and wouldn’t talk to anyone, was eventually reunited with his family after his mother reported the child missing. She told police the child must have wandered out of their fenced yard and was likely walking toward his grandmother’s house.
Deputies spoke with a bicyclist after he was reported riding down a hill on West Evergreen Drive, weaving in and out of cars and yelling, “Hit me, hit me.”
A man reported that while swimming with his three young daughters, two young men were talking with bad language. When he asked them to stop, one of them got in his face, telling him he couldn’t do anything, then head-butted him and hit him on the cheek.
A man reported his vehicle was towed from Trumble Creek Road, and when he went to pick it up, $4,500 worth of items were missing from inside.
Someone shot at a truck while a person was test driving it on Spotted Bear Road in Martin City.
Someone kicked and scraped the doors of a truck on Hungry Horse Boulevard and also backed into one of the front quarter panels.
A reckless motorist was reported on Columbia Falls Stage Road in Columbia Falls, where the driver was seen almost going off the road and overcorrecting while driving 60 mph in a zone with a speed limit of 35 mph.
Vehicles and equipment were stolen from a business on Wettington Drive by a former employee.
An American flag and a solar light were stolen from a home on West Evergreen Drive.
Cash and a phone were stolen on Jellison Road in Columbia Falls.
After first hearing that flower pots were being stolen throughout downtown, residents of Seventh Avenue West and Eighth Avenue West told the Kalispell Police Department they’d found flower pots left in their yards.
A Buffalo Square Court resident reported someone opened an account in his wife’s name and charged $17,000 to the account.
Two or three youths were seen stealing chips, jerky and other items from a store on Third Avenue East North.
Youths were reported lighting fireworks from the roof of a building on Main Street.
Officers responded to First Avenue West, where a resident reported someone was either firing a gun or setting off fireworks.
A man reported he dropped off a freezer at a store on West Center Street and that it was then stolen, possibly by an employee who had been fired.
Someone pried open the back door at a home on First Avenue West in an attempted burglary.
A bicycle was stolen on North Belmar Drive.
The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of shoplifting caught on video at a store on Ninth Street West.
Someone shot a vehicle on Martha Road with paint balls.
The Whitefish Police Department received a report of a fight on Central Avenue.
A theft was reported on Kalispell Avenue.
A person resisted arrest by officers with the Polson Police Department at Riverside Park.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglarized home on Rocky Butte Road.
