Babe Ruth Baseball: Lakers, Hi-Line 3-0 in state play

The Kalispell Lakers rolled over another foe at the Montana State 15/13U Babe Ruth baseball tournament at Kidsports Complex.

The Lakers totaled 14 hits in an 18-1 five-inning victory over Miles City on Friday.

Kalispell is now 3-0 in tournament action and has outscored the opposition 42-2.

“We’re just really pounding the ball,” Lakers coach Roger Rich said.

The Lakers scored 11 runs in the first inning against Miles City on seven hits. They sent 13 batters to plate in that inning.

For Kalispell, Brett Thomas singled, doubled and tripled in going 3 for 3.

Justin Rich singled, walked twice and scored twice. Jeff Bengston was 2 for 4 and scored twice.

Jordan Ingle, 2 for 4, scored four times and Sam McCamley, 1 for 3, crossed home plate twice.

Zach Sands and Kyler Harkins both pitched two innings and Jacob Link finished up in the fifth as the trio combined for a 2-hitter.

Kalispell is back in action tonight at 6 against the tournament’s other unbeaten team — Hi-Line.

Hi-Line advanced in winners’ bracket play with a 1-0 victory over Mission Valley on Friday.
