| July 21, 2012 5:14 PM

Duane L. Wolfe, 73, “went to Heaven” on July 16, 2012.

He was born on Dec. 15, 1938, in Miles City.

Duane loved life and people. He was a husband, a father, a grandpa of 22, and a great-grandpa of nine.

He was loving, funny, proud, smart, talented, caring, giving, a harmonica player, a yodeler, a fisherman, a camper, a music lover, a traveler, a Freemason, polite, feisty and strong-willed. He was a paratrooper. He was a geologist by trade but wore many different hats throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his first daughter, Carletta; his father, Fred C. Wolfe; his mother, Ethel B. Shaffner; his maternal and paternal grandparents; his beloved sister, Barbara; and several aunts, uncles and friends.

He is survived by his bride, Arlinna, whom he called “Bert” (who says “God blessed me with Duane”); his loving children Christie Young (who says “I loved the smell of the cherry pipe tobacco and his harmonica playing”), Catherine Oman, Janet Wolfe (who says “I so loved my dad”) and Becky Nelson, Glenda Wolfe-Thorpe (who says “Above all, he was my friend”); stepchildren Jr. Deppa, Tamara Lee, Tiffanie Mendosa (who says “Words cannot explain how I felt about Duane”) and Jennifer Rainey; sister Jeannette Hunter (who says “He was a wonderful man and brother”) and her husband Albert; brother Frank Peabody (who says “He was a man’s man, something we all aspire to be, my big brother”); sisters Patricia Peterson and Roxie Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of his life on July 28 at his home in Marion, followed by the spreading of his ashes at a special location at the Flaming Gorge in Wyoming in mid-August.
