Maude Lorraine Bauska, 90

| July 21, 2012 5:38 PM

Maude Lorraine Bauska, 90, “slipped away to Heaven on the wings of angels” in the wee hours of July 20, 2012, at Brendan House, with her daughter Lorraine and other family by her side.

She was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Stroner, Wyo., to Jessa and Margaret Lynch. Maude was delivered by a midwife in a sheepherder’s wagon, as her father was tending a flock at the time.  She was the fourth of nine children born to this very close Irish family.

On March 5, 1942, Maude married Glen Bauska and together they had two children, Lorraine and Steven. Family was an important aspect of her life and Maude strove to be a fine wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Known to many as Grandma Bauska, to us she was that and so much more. She taught us unconditional love, the power of laughter, the art of sewing and the dignity of growing old. She graced this world with her presence for 90 years, of which we were blessed to share for a time.

Maude was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; parents, Jessa and Margaret Lynch; brothers, Warren, Daniel and Neal Lynch; and sister, Orrine Rhodes.

She is survived by her sisters, Rose Hollopeter, Geri Mitton and Donna Lerew; and brother, Jesse Lynch. She is also survived by daughter, Lorraine Graham and husband, Neil, of Kalispell; son, Steven Bauska and wife, Kay, of Chatteroy, Wash.; grandchildren, Shane Graham, Whitney Graham Giddeon, Channon Baker, Shirlan McKay and Wade Bauska. Maude is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Tiana and Tara Fredenberg, Quinten and Conor Graham, Anthony, Alise and Andrew Williams, Jessica and Jordan McKay, and Tyler and Brandon Bauska; and six great-great-grandchildren, including Athena TaiLee Fredenberg, and Liliana Belle Prochnow, whose arrival we eagerly await this September.

“Until we meet again, Sweetie, God’s speed. Love you, Grandma, for ever and ever, and ever and ever.”

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24 at the United Epworth Methodist Church. A reception will be held at the Moose Lodge in Evergreen following the gravesite service.

Memorials may be sent to the Juvenile Diabetic Association, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004 or to the charity of your choice.

Buffalo Hill Funeral Home & Crematory is caring for the family.
