Woman admits to criminal endangerment
A 30-year-old Kalispell woman pleaded guilty Thursday in Flathead District Court to felony criminal endangerment and misdemeanor drunk driving.
On Feb. 15 Misti Williams was involved in a single-vehicle accident in which she struck a snow bank while her 6-year-old child was lying unrestrained in the backseat. Another passenger was also in the car.
Williams failed a field alcohol test and a breath alcohol test at the scene as well as a second breath alcohol test at the Kalispell Police Department.
If a judge accepts Williams’ plea agreement, she will be given a deferred three-year sentence for the criminal endangerment conviction and six months of probation for the misdemeanor offense of driving under the influence, to be served concurrently with the deferred sentence.
A third charge of felony criminal distribution of dangerous drugs — levied due to Williams’ alleged admission at the scene of the crash that she had given her adult passenger at least one Xanax pill earlier in the evening — was dropped.
Williams’ sentencing is Sept. 27. She has been released on special conditions, which were replaced with standard conditions for her own recognizance release following Thursday’s hearing.
