Marvene S. Shidler, 80
Marvene S. Shidler, 80, of Buffalo, Wyo., passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, after a short stay at the Sheridan Manor in Sheridan, Wyo.
Marvene was born June 9, 1932, to Ione (Mayes) and Marvin Shidler in Edgerton, Wyo. She was raised in Edgerton and Midwest, Wyo.
Her father was very interested in the cherry business and purchased land on Flathead Lake. He built a summer cabin and, from early childhood, Marvene spent many summers there.
She graduated from the University of Wyoming and taught elementary school for several years in Wyoming. She and her husband then moved to the East Shore of Flathead Lake, where she learned the cherry business. She ran an orchard from the ground up and was very active in the East Shore Flathead Lake Community Clubs.
Marvene loved the outdoors, horses and western lore of any kind. She was very proud to have been born and raised in the West. Marvene had a wonderful sense of humor that was enjoyed by many in Wyoming and Montana alike. The last years of her life were spent in Buffalo, surrounded by her dear friends.
She is survived by a closely knit family unit of friends.
Marvene was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Wyma Dale; her daughter, Celeste; and her good friend, Barney Hoy.
At Marvene’s request, no services are planned. A dispersal of ashes will take place in September, on a beautiful Indian Summer Montana day, a time of year beloved by Marvene.
