James E. Madden, 68
James E. Madden, 68, of Martin City, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at home in Martin City.
He was born July 12, 1944, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Leonard and Thelma (Patterson) Madden.
Jim learned at an early age to love the outdoors, so when he had the opportunity to work in Glacier National Park as a seasonal employee, he jumped at it. This experience resulted in a move to Montana after graduating from Youngstown University in 1967.
He married his first love, Barbara Bailey, also of Youngstown, and the couple began their life in Montana.
Jim was a hunter, fisherman and fly tier, instilling in his wife and children his love and appreciation for nature and wildlife.
Jim taught seventh-grade life science at Linderman School in Kalispell before his illness forced him to retire in 1980. He loved teaching and young people, and it was difficult for him when he wasn't able to return to the classroom.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but always remembered each time one of us catches a fish, floats a river or just enjoys the beauty of God's creation.
James is survived by his wife, Barbara, and children, Jeffrey J. Madden and Lori J. Madden, all of Montana.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 30, at Canyon Community Church in Coram.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Canyon Community Church, 215 Coram School Lane, Coram MT 59913.
Arrangements are entrusted to Columbia Mortuary.
