Dolly the duck

A mother duck and her six ducklings take shelter under a tree at the Flathead County Courthouse last week. The duck spent the last month living at the base of a tree at the courthouse, sitting on her nest of nine eggs. The ducklings hatched last Tuesday and Wednesday. Birds stole at least one egg, according to county employees who had adopted the duck, named her Dolly and provided her food and water daily. The drake never returned to the nest, employees said. Dolly led her brood Friday afternoon toward a slough on 11th Street East.
