Museum screens 'Paths of Glory'

| June 13, 2012 9:15 PM

Stanley Kubrick’s anti-war statement, “Paths of Glory,” will be screened for free at the Museum at Central School June 25.

Kirk Douglas stars as Col. Dax, the commander of a weary regiment of French army soldiers stationed along the western front during World War I. When French generals order the regiment to carry out what amounts to a suicide mission against heavy German fire, some of the men refuse. When the army tries three of the soldiers on charges of cowardice, Dax acts as their defense attorney.

The film is not rated, but parental guidance is advised.

The screening will begin at 7 p.m. at the Kalispell museum, located at 124 Second Ave. E.

Anyone may attend, and there is no charge. Donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of acquiring and showing the film.

Popcorn is free, and wine, beer, pop and water will be for sale. Seating is provided, but people may also bring their own floor pillows, portable chairs or whatever is comfortable for viewing the film.

The museum’s monthly free screenings are usually on Tuesdays but switch to the last Monday of the month in June, July and August.
