William R. 'Bill' Doyle, 79
William R. “Bill” Doyle, 79, of Kalispell, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
Bill was born Nov. 9, 1932, in Bristol, Conn.
He entered military service in 1950, serving in the U.S. Army with the 504th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, and spent three years jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.
Bill was a painter by trade and a master paper hanger by choice, first as a union painter in Connecticut, then as owner of his own painting business in Seattle.
After retiring in Montana in 2001, he enjoyed spending time with his local family and working in his garden. Stamp and coin collecting were two of his favorite activities and he would talk for hours about a special find or purchase ( often railing about others’ perceptions of the value of a certain item)!
Failing health began to slow him down, but annual visits from his children and grandchildren and spending time on Flathead Lake with them each summer, was something he always enjoyed and seemed to gain strength for and from. He spent three days a week at the Kalispell Dialysis Center from 2004 through his death and regarded everyone there among his closest friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Leonora “Lee” Doyle; daughter, MaryAnn Matway, and husband, John; son, William Doyle Jr., and wife Dawn; son, Robert Doyle, and wife, Jamey; son, Robert Howe, and wife, Lynne; son, John Howe; daughter, Barbara Amendola, and husband, Rick; son, Mike Howe, and wife, Cindy; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
By his request, there will be no viewing or memorial services.
Memorials may be made to your favorite charity; or bets placed in his honor at the table of your choice!
“Take it easy, Kid.”
