Robert Allen Weaver, 54
“It is with great joy and celebration that our family shares with you the news of a most amazing miracle that has taken place in the life of Robert ‘Bob’ Allen Weaver. At three o'clock on the afternoon of June 15, 2012, he exchanged his cancer-, chemo-, pain-ridden earthly body for a glorious, immortal, eternal, heavenly one.”
Bob was born April 14, 1958, in Aberdeen, S.D. His family moved when he was a toddler to Billings, where he spent the rest of his childhood. Skiing, hunting, fishing, boating and water skiing were family activities shared with his brother, Mike. He earned his Eagle Scout badge as the youngest Eagle Scout in Montana at the time. He graduated from Billings West High School with a runner-up and state singles tennis title in his list of accomplishments.
He pursued a post-secondary education in mechanical engineering at Montana State University, earning bachelor and master’s of science degrees. His career took him to Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee; Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico; and Idaho National Engineering Laboratory in Idaho Falls.
He brought his family back to Montana in 1994 and settled in Whitefish to be close to his mom and dad, wonderful grandparents to his four growing children. During his 18 years in Whitefish he worked for Semitool and Sonju Industrial, taught math and science at Whitefish Christian Academy, started his own technical company, AlpenTEK and most recently worked as operations manager at Hammer Nutrition. He met Cindy Bradley while attending MSU and they were married on June 21, 1980. They shared a wonderful life together raising their four beautiful children.
He will be remembered as a man of integrity who loved God, his wife, his children, family and friends. He looked for the best in people and helped them reach their full potential. He invested himself selflessly in other’s lives, encouraging them to dig deep and go beyond what they thought possible. He was a researcher, deep thinker and problem-solver. He was active in his church in leadership and teaching roles. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but not forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Weaver. He leaves behind his wife, Cindy; his mother, Dorothy Weaver, of Kalispell; his four children, Jonathan and wife Emily Weaver, of Helena, with his two granddaughters McKenna and Clara; Tyler Weaver, of Girdwood, Alaska; Hannah Weaver, at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.; Bekah Weaver, at home in Whitefish; and his brother, Mike, of Los Alamos, N.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Bob to one of the following charities: Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 1505, Kalispell, MT 59901, to help in spreading God’s word; Young Life, P.O. Box 4473, Whitefish, MT 59937, for providing direction during the teen years for his sons; and St. Patrick House, 501 W. Alder, Missoula, MT 59802, for providing his home away from home during his months of treatment while in Missoula.
Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish. Austin Funeral Home is caring for Bob’s family.
