Kalispell's Avery leads MSGA Junior Championship
BOZEMAN — Teigan Avery of Kalispell shot an 83 to grab a share of the first-round lead at the Montana State Golf Association Junior Championship on Monday at Riverside Country Club.
The Buffalo Hill Golf Club member is tied for the top spot in the girls 14-15 age bracket with Sadie Crippen of Missoula.
Hannah Zwemke of Billings is one shot back.
Ryggs Johnston of Libby is one shot off the pace and in a three-way tie for second place in the boys 13-and-under division.
Johnston, Riley Kaercher of Billings and Keaton Sunchild of Great Falls all shot 74.
Joey Moore of Billings is the leader with a 73.
Brittain Walton of Kalispell shot an 81, which ties him for sixth place.
Logan Iverson of Kalispell is tied for third with two other golfers and Arthur Doorn of Whitefish is a shot back in sixth place in the boys 16-17 age division. Iverson shot 70 and Doorn 71.
Ryan Flink of Missoula tops the leaderboard with a 67.
Cody Sherrill of Kalispell is in a five-way tie for 11th place with a 76.
In boys 14-15, Ryan Keenan of Bigfork shot an 81, which has him in seventh place, but just three shots behind the leader, Christopher Delaney of Frenchtown.
Tom Mann of Kalispell, 83, is in a four-way tie for ninth place.
In girls 16-17, Kaydee Aurich of Kalispell turned in a 95, which put her in sixth place.
Erin Tabish of Whitefish shot 98, which has her eighth in the standings.
Maggie Crippen of Missoula leads with a 77.
