Mariners split with Bitterroot Bucs

POLSON — Mission Valley settled for a split with the Bitterroot Bucs in Class A American Legion baseball play on Tuesday.

The streaking Mariners fell 5-2, but prevailed in the other meeting by the same score.

Mission Valley (24-3)was coming off an 8-3 victory over the Bucs (24-15)in the title game at the Maybelle Arthur Memorial Tournament on Sunday in Dillon.

Jack Humphreys led the Mission Valley offense in the loss on Tuesday, going 2-for-3.

Justin Evertz doubled for the Mariners.

Humphreys and Chris Clary both had two hits in the victory.

Clary had a solo home run in that outing.

Robbie Gauthier drove in two runners for the Mariners.

Mission Valley is back in action today hosting the Kootenai Valley Rangers. The doubleheader begins at 4 p.m.

The Mariners follow that with the Big Bucks Tournament in Libby, which starts Thursday.
