Prankster's plastic leg wastes sheriff's time

In an overabundance of caution, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to Blankenship Bridge after someone reported a leg sticking out of the water up to the knee on the west side of the bridge. Sheriff Chuck Curry said he waded out into the water and discovered a fake plastic foot staged to look like someone’s leg. The prank obviously wasted emergency responders’ time when they might have been needed elsewhere.

A pair of men were reported in a vehicle racing a truck. Supposedly, one of the men was brandishing a gun.

Deputies assisted another agency in removing children from a reported drug house on U.S. 93 South in Whitefish.

A man was arrested on Birchwood Court for driving under the influence after it was reported that he had left a home drunk, swaying and slurring his words.

A person reported that a fireworks stand had been set up illegally on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.

Someone ripped all the mailboxes out of the ground on the north side of U.S. 2 West near Violet Bay Drive in Marion and threw them in the road.

A man recovered his personal watercraft after it washed up on the shore of a property on Middle Pierce Lane in Bigfork.

Several youths shot paintball guns at a vehicle on U.S. 93 North in Kalispell, causing damage to the vehicle.

Someone shot yellow paint balls at a home on Rock Drive.

Graffiti was reported on a building on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.


Officers with the Kalispell Police Department arrested a woman on a warrant for fraudulently obtaining dangerous drugs after being spotted in a store on U.S. 93 North and recognized as a frequent shoplifter.

A group of four teenage boys were seen walking along 10th Street West carrying what looked like a fake gun and trying to get inside vehicles. Officers located the boys, spoke to them and confirmed the gun was a toy.

A woman reported someone shot at her with a BB or pellet gun while she was in her vehicle on U.S. 93 South, leaving a chip in the window.

A group of three boys were seen swinging and smashing a vacuum cleaner in an alley off Second Avenue East. A witness tried to get them to clean up the pieces, but the boys ran off when confronted.

A woman and her friend were reported smoking marijuana in the presence of a baby at an apartment building on Liberty Street.

Drug activity was reported on Liberty Street after a hypodermic needle was found in front of the office door at an apartment building.

A fight between six to eight people was reported on Airport Road.

A motorist reported their vehicle was hit with paintballs by someone inside a vehicle traveling the other direction.

Graffiti was reported on a building at Woodland Park.

Beer was stolen from a store on Third Avenue East North.

A chainsaw was stolen on College Avenue.


The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of a bicycle stolen on Ninth Street West.


Officers with the Whitefish Police Department arrested a person while doing extra patrols downtown.

Thefts were reported on U.S. 93 West and Lupfer Avenue.


The Polson Police Department received a report of theft on Sixth Avenue East.
