Whitefish Gallery Nights scheduled for July 5

| June 27, 2012 7:00 PM

Whitefish’s downtown art galleries will once again play host to artist receptions and live music July 5.

Whitefish Gallery Nights takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. in several Whitefish art galleries.

Following is a sampling of some of the artists that will be featured during the event and throughout the month of July. For a complete list of participating galleries and additional information, visit www.whitefishgallerynights.org.

The Purple Pomegranate, a fine craft specialty store, is featuring work by Whitefish jewelry artist Kris Kramer during the month of July.

Kramer makes wearable and collectible minuscule silver sculptures out of metal clay. Most of her pieces can be worn as jewelry. She says she loves silver down to the molecular level and believes it has qualities of being alive: It prefers that change be incremental, it reflects light and it is fragile and strong at once.

Kramer is a certified precious metal clay artisan and sole proprietor of The Silver Pendant. She sculpts daily in her studio on the north side of Whitefish.

Her work will be on display at The Purple Pomegranate all month. Visit www.purplepomegranate.com for more information.

“Documented Presence” by Polebridge artist and political candidate Peter Moore is the exhibition of the month at the Walking Man Frame Shop and Gallery.

Moore, a painter, lives on the same property his grandfather homesteaded in 1918. The Minnesota native has called the North Fork home — and the place he paints — since 1980.

For more information, call the gallery at 863-ARTS, email thewalkingman@cyberport.net or find Walking Man Frame Shop and Gallery on Facebook.

Boulder artist Michael Haykin splits his time between studios in Montana and Tucson, Ariz., but draws his focus and inspiration from the Last Best Place. His solo show, “Earth and Sky,” will be featured in July at Jest Gallery.

“I am a painter whose interest in observing the changing movement provides the structure for my work,” Haykin said.

The upcoming show at Jest Gallery includes a series of pieces focusing on air, water, and the landscape. The paintings depict natural elements and landscapes from Montana.
