No one bids on house at fairgrounds

In spite of the low price tag, no one submitted a bid to buy a house and two outbuildings from Flathead County.

Bids for the structures at 811 W. Wyoming St. were to be opened by county commissioners Monday, but no bids were submitted by last Friday’s deadline.

County officials had offered to sell the house and two outbuildings for a minimum bid of $2,000, but the new owner would have been required to remove the buildings from county fairgrounds property.

Since no one expressed any interest in buying the buildings, county Fairgrounds Manager Mark Campbell said he will now talk with Kalispell Fire Department officials about burning the structures down as a fire exercise.

County employees would clean up the burned debris after that fire, Campbell said.
