The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy.

According to a press release from Sheriff Chuck Curry, the 10-week course will familiarize participants with everything from patrol and investigations to firearm procedures, drug education and other operations.

It will also include a corrections tour and hands-on training.

The classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays beginning March 29 and ending May 31.

The academy is free but space is limited to 20 participants, who must be at least 18 years old, live in Flathead County and be willing to attend all classes with some exceptions.

Applicants will be subject to criminal history checks and will be notified of their enrollment at the discretion of the Sheriff’s Office.
